I have a '56 Fargo C3PW, all original-6V, pos.ground, 230c.i., etc. I bought a tach from Westach, which was the only one that I could find that was 6V & the correct rpm range (0-3500). The company tech reps have tried to help, but this time they can't seem to come up with the right answers. Under their instructions, I had to reverse the connections from the installation manual in order to make it work at all. It then registered an rpm that was far higher than the motor was actually turning. In the instructions, it notes that there is a wire loop on the back of the tach, which should be cut, if the tach shows double the engine speed. I've done that, but it still is very erratic. The company is adising that it may be due to vibration, as it is mounted on the steering column. Any suggestions???
