Certainly NOT a WWII comand car! Possibly an M42 "Command Truck" kit with the plate still on the dash, that is confusing the owner??? (My brother has an m37 with the original plate like that.)
The bed would indicate an M37B1, from the exhaust extension stowage bracket on the pass side. Also the three cab cover tie downs on the rear of the cab are m37B1, I think. More (5?) on the m37.
The tail lights look like m37 but those are often & easily changed. Nice truck but not at all as advertised.
