No, it's not fair, but there it is. People seem to be obsessed these days with controlling what their neighbors do, especially if they don't understand it. IMHO every person who enagages in "unusual" pastimes like shooting or military vehicles should keep in mind that, like it or not, he or she is sort of like an ambassador for the sport and has some obligation to explain it to others - and perhaps even interest them in it. This is very true of shooting sports, once you explain a few details and they get the idea that the sport is available to them too, fear is replaced by interest, hostility by receptivity. Liberals like to call this "outreach" and I think that we should all do more of it. Not effective in all cases to be sure, but sometimes has amazing results.
