My WC53 pulled 37X12.5R16.5s (actually 36.1" with wear) just fine with stock 230 and 4.89s. First not needed for starts even on moderate upgrades. However, the lack of a low range on the WW2 rigs bcomes more problematic with 4.89s. This truck is destined for a Perkins diesel, NP540 and NP201.
