I am looking at possibility of building a pre '48 1-1/2 ton Dodge for highway hauling (just the ticket for transporting original M-37, M-43, VF401 etc). Truck would run 900x20 (or larger) tires, a 5.83 rear drive (actually a 5.83/ 8.11 two speed).

An overdrive tranny would put engine rpm at acceptable V8 speeds.

I have a real problem with putting anything but Dodge power in a Dodge truck.. What Dodge V8 overdrive configurations are out there??

Can a 360 be economicaly built to handle 15,000 gvw truck on highway???

How difficult is it to fit a big block under hood?? 1-1/2 ton has a little more engine room than Powerwagon as it is originally fitted with longer "251" block, and straight frame allows engine more overhead space.

Any overdrive compatability for the big block Chrysler???

I know it would be much easier to find a good used cummings ,, but i think this has potential.

any guidence appriciated..

thanks

mike
