I'm trying to rebuild a six-volt, two-wire sending unit for my 1950 PW from two broken units we dissassembled. The wire that creates variable resistance was severed on both units. We have soldered one back together. I believe the resistance is established by a connection to ground that varies with the position of the float arm conductor on the wire. If so, how does this go to ground? Through the rivets connecting the two halves of the unit? Through the scews to the tank? I had to drill out the rivets to dissassemble the units. Plese help or tell me where I can get a replacement unit! Thanx!
