I'm a long time member of the NRA and I think I can answer your question about President Bush and his membership card. One of the officers of the NRA referrd to federal agents as "jackbooted thugs" and Mr. Bush took this comment personally. I believe the comment was made after one of the feds ill-fated raids. I have always admired Mr. Bush for sticking to his guns {no pun intended}, but I do wish the problem could have been solved without his cancelling his life membership. I think that hurt us as a group. I hope this helps.
