$500 bucks for a complete rebuilt 230? Yes, get it. A distributer needing rebuilding is worth $100 alone, not to mention what the starter and generator cost.
Bear in mind that over the years surface rust may have etched the crank and rod journals, springs may have fatigued and gaskets may have dried out. So you should tear it down and inspect, and freshen up or correct any flaws. But $500 for a crated 230 is a smoking deal. I've seen them advertised for $1000 and up. And a full rebuild job will run $1800+ anyway, so you are still way ahead of the game.
