I had to laugh at #6, because when I used live in Everett, they has part of their code that said you HAD to cut down any "dead or dying tree" on your property. It also said bushes had to be shorter than 36" and grass shorter than 12"

You must be in King County if you're referring to the open space ordinance that got thrown out by the state supreme court. I agree you don't have as many regulations as poor Leon, but you've still got more than we do here (outside of the city). The one that would really get me is you guys aren't allowed to burn your slash any more -- you're supposed to chip it all. Plus, I'm always hearing of them making some old guy "clean up" his junk yard once the suburban developers get too close. Granted it takes more than one unlicensed vehicle to be a "junk yard" in King County, but it's still sad.

I agree with you about communities with covenants, homeowner's associations, and the like. I can't imagine why anyone would willingly subject themselves to it, but developers create developments with such restrictions because on the average, buyers prefer it. Most people really do want to be assured that their neighbors won't be very much different than they are. They call them "covenants" because it sounds better than "ghetto".
