I have restored 8 from the frame up, and am in the process of doing another. I've paid way to much for junk, and gotten bargains that should have been alot more. My thought has always been this....How far will you go to own one? How much do you like the vehicle? Will you be disappointed in the future when it is finished? How much restoration do you want to do?
Some can be a small mortgage, some can be simple. The most important thing of all, MAKE SURE YOUR SPOUSE OR SIGNIFICANT OTHER IS PREPARED TO HANDLE WHAT IS COMING! I lost about 20 trucks and an entire stock room of parts because the ex couldn't see past herself and the good things that the truck(s) would bring. Now, much further from the past, I've funded new vehicles for my wife, done great things for my kids, and pulled my family together with this great hobby. Just go slow, get your truck, and make it a family thing, keeping all involved. They'll love you for it!
