I have a buddy that made 228,000 on his tranny (98.5) before he had it pulled down. I am not sure how many miles it had when he got it but most of those and it towed a horse trailer for nearly all of them. It did have a cracked flex plate. I drove it a couple of times and noticed something was not quite right and I'm sure now that was what it was. Some do last but I would not necessarily depend on it.
I think the best model Cummins is the one you happen to have. =) They are all pretty reliable aside from the few things that seem to commonly go wrong. All of them seem to have an issue or two that can cause grief.
