David you make some good points here....but,
I think that ebay needs to do some overhaul on bidding proceedures. I and several on the board here are on dial-up internet which is slower that molasses in the winter time. The folke with fast internet and the damn snipe services piss me off. I am tired of being top bidder on an item for 7 days only to have my proxy bid out bid in the last few seconds of an auction. I as a seller am also damn tired of having my item sit there for 3 to 7 days and not get a bid until the last few minutes of the auction. Ebay needs to go to the same rules as gsaauctions.gov which has a deal that if a bid comes in in the last 5 minutes of the auction then the auction is automaticly extended for 5 minutes. This would do 2 things, it would cause people to bid on an item early and it would put the dial up internet folks on an even playing field. An auction is supposed to be a bidding war not a snipe it now event.
