Geeze, all I can say is thet I like to try and keep thinks stock and original, but I have found that operating my PWs on extreme angles has necessitated the addition of an in-line electric pump as an addition to the original mechanical one, I have found that climbing extreme grades over 100% (or 45 degrees / 12 in 12 ) like Moab and Ouray, the additional fuel pump was necessary to help the mechanical one deliver fuel from the rear mounted tank to the carb. Under normal conditions, the electric pump is off, I only use it when climbing steep things or in the hot summer when a short blast is necessary to circumvent vaporlock. Plus the addition of a high quality element fuel filter can only help protect the carb and its internal jets. The quality of filters has greatly improved over the years, I would guess that if they were available years ago, the sediment bowl would have been replaced as a stock item like dodge did in the 50's and later. But here again, only my opinion and these were added only as it was necessary to help my trucks perform well beyond their advertised limits.
