If you're thinking you need to adjust the hi-mix screw (like you would on a chain saw), then I'm assuming it runs rough at full load, rather than at idle. If it was a rough idle, but ran okay once the throttle was open a bit, you'd be looking or a vacuum leak. Rough running or lack of power at full load (wide open throttle) only might indicate fuel starvation which could be a weak fuel pump or anything along the line clogged up. Clogged filters, intake screens, carb jets, etc show up first at full power because that's when you're trying to get the max fuel through it. But I agree with the other guys that it's probably better to focus on the ignition system first. Timing must be right and valves must be good, since it ran well when parked. That leaves fuel and spark.
