The use of the special brake spring plyers make things a little easier as they have a curled tip that holds on to the spring better and allows it to be easier to put back on mostly. It can be done with plyers or needle nose plyers. Just be careful the spring dont get away from you and hit you in the eye. Nothing special. Just unhook it and do your repair. Might have to free up the shoe adjuster eccentrics and shoulders on the bottom so you can adjust the shoes when you put it back together.
