At this point, it may have to wait until spring. It's at my cabin, which is over the mountain from here, and it's supposed to start snowing for real tomorrow. It was freakish that I could even drive over the hill on 5th of December. I'm usually snowed out by now. It's actually well above freezing out today, so it might have thawed out on its own. If there's a solid block of ice in there, I imagine it could take days to melt. I did change the gear oil about 5 years ago, and there was no water in the oil then, and that was after sitting out in a storage yard in western Washington for years. I can't see how that much water would get in it here, where it doesn't rain as much. I even had it under a shed until last winter, when I accidentally left it out. That turned out to be good because the shed collapsed in the snow.
