In the winter, I consolidate some of my truck into different buildings. We have had about 2 feet of snow in the last week or so, and I had not moved my 56 ffpw to its winter storage location. This pole barn is down a hill and the hill was covered with packed snow.

Well I took it out of the upper garage in a flat area. It would not move in 2WD on the snow. OK, I put it in 4 wd and it was better but not good. Anyway, I proceeded down the hill very slowly. I needed to make a left turn where the road was nearly level and as I put the brakes on gently, the back end just slowly slid around 90 degrees. I was just going at a slow walking speed...man those tires are really terrible on packed snow/ice!

I have heard this before but never experienced it. My Wrangler could go up that hill in 2wd and my 65 ffpw with snow plow can plow going up the hill...it has some big lug mudder type tires. All on the same day by the way.

I will make sure never to take this truck out on any snow or ice....it is the worst vehicle I have ever driven on snow. When it would not move on level ground...just idled with the rear wheels spinning, I knew this was going to be a problem. I was really surprised how massive a difference tires could make.

Lake-effect snow came on quick this year. In early Nov, we had 70 degree days. Shortly after, it started snowing and has not stopped. Anyway, all vehicles safely in there winter dens.
