When Germany and Japan were destroyed in WW2, we Americans had it pretty good until the late sixties. When WW2 ended, Japanese had quality gurus come in and teach them quality theories and practices which the Japanese have been practicing for the last 60 plus years while we Americans have barely just begun to grasp the concept. As a result, a good number of products can’t compete in quality and it’s evident we are loosing the competitive edge in a Global market. I’ve owned one Chrysler vehicle and it will be the only one. When the technicians at a dealership have to send electronic computer printout to the factory to have engineers tell technicians what the problem is a vehicle is experiencing, you know the design of the product isn’t quit right. Anyway, if American car manufacturers are to survive, they have to produce quality products that will spend more time on the road than in the shop and get respectable MPG to compete with foreign products, otherwise any bailout will be for nothing. I’m all for bailing them out, but not if they continue along the same business lines they have practiced in the past.
