the news is $72/hr UAW and 42/hr Non Union
foreign companies in the US. go on line & see
for your self base wage is almost the same for the workers. the other costs are for support of retired workers big 3 419,621 retired with and additional 120,723 surviving spouses and only 180,621 active (working) UAW (1st quarter 2007 figures) now
the new companies do not have many retired workers or many with 20 to 30 years and 4 weeks vacation costs. Nissan & Toyota have also made big gas guzzlers Armada & full size toyota pick ups to meet US demands.
We need a strong US Auto Industry

ps please do not bash unions if you have never been a member of one. I do not agree with everything they do or have done but i do respect what they have done for workers in the USA.
