I hope someone here has seen this hub and spindle and can identify its origin and/or provide better photos.

I believe this hub and spindle assembly was probably used on some pieces of farm or industrial equipment of the 1940's-1950's. I hesitate to say what particular equipment it is shown on in the photo as I do not want to influence anyone's thinking. Found on this particular application, it is relatively uncommon. I believe it was sourced from a much more common implement of the same or earlier time period.

The assembly has some peculiar and unique details. The hub has a 5 on 5-1/2" stud pattern and should accept a common 16-inch automotive wheel and tire assembly. It turns on at least one, maybe two, bearings which are greased through the fitting shown. There appears to be no hub cap, but rather a large core plug which may contain a weep hole for the pressure and grease within as evidenced by the dried grease and dirt.

The spindle, for this application, clamps to existing framework with a simple U-bolt for adjustment.

I am interested in finding one to buy or to borrow and reverse engineer. It will be used in a Power-Wagon related environment.
