I believe Chrysler received a loan from the government and eventually payed it back. I don't know if they are asking for a loan this time or looking for just a handout.
I bet America will survive if these car companies had to file Chapter 11. I don't see where in the world all this money is coming from. The government will have to raise taxes, print more money, or borrow it to start with.
Whew, what a mess.
