GMC, through their AM General HMMWV contract got language to ensure that army surplus humvees will never be sold to compete with their civilian "hummers". Now they're probably going back to do the same thing with all the Vietnam, Korea, and WWII trucks. A guy I used to work with was a radio technician in Vietnam, and on the way back, when the war had just ended, he was on an aircraft carrier that had been on its way to 'nam with a flight deck full of new trucks and helicopters. He was ordered to start the the trucks, point them at the edge of the deck, put them in gear, and let them drive themselves over the edge. He respectfully asked "Why?" and was told that "to protect American jobs" we've been ordered not to bring them back. The pushed the helicopters over the side too.
