Allen is correct that you have a full time 4 wheel drive meaning the front and rear axle are driven all the time. The LOC position is to lock out the differential action in the transfer case by sending full power to the front and rear axles. Unless you have a limited slip rear axle you will still only have power to one wheel on each axle. The easiest way to tell the difference between LO/Hi and LOWLOC/HILOC is to select either and drive on a hard surface while turning sharply. The front wheels will hop or scrub as you make a turn. This why it is only recommended to use the LOC position on slippery surfaces. Full time is great since you don't have to get out to engage lockouts on the hubs. The gas mileage difference is negligible. The N position is neutral which would be used if you had a pTO and you truck will roll unless the parking brake is set. You can tell if it has limited slip by a tag on the rear axle or by raising the both rear wheels and turning them by hand. If they both turn the same direction it's a LS rear axle. Be aware that they have clutchess inside that my need serviceing and special oil additive. I had a 78 W200 Club Cab and I loved that truck being my first 4x4 truck. Hope this helps.
