Sometimes you need a vin for cutoff dates on parts.Also for key cutting or ordering some specific parts likereplacement uhlpostery, timing belts or lack of belt and the colorcode is in the vin number.Sometimes you can cross refference all you want and get 4 choices and the vin# tells you which part is correct.
