The kind with a total of 5 balls can split up the middle of a shaft, letting the balls loose. If that is your type, clean and inspect carefully- if it splits under hard usage, it can wreck the front knuckle and/or the whole axle. Otherwise, puzzle it back together. Or . if you have a 6-baller, just puzzle it back together, they lack the weakness of the fivers.
The balls in the five-ballers wear, and used to come in several oversizes, by .oo1 increments, I think. No experience with 6-ballers, but maybe so them too?
