Washington State can be a little difficult. THey like to find stolen vehicles when they are registered in this state. A couple of years ago they returned a mustang that was ripped off 25 + years ago.

That being said. What they are doing is making sure that no one will come up in the next 3 years and claim the truck. That is why the bond. After 3 years, if it is stolen, and nobody claims it it is yours. It all has to do with stolen property laws.

The inspection is not for safety. They will only check for vin numbers. That is all they care about (a least when I bought my cars into the state). Be aware that if your frame number is not visable they will grab a scraper and remove paint or what ever is needed to find it. I would suggest that you clean up the frame and engine number before you take it in for inspection.

Hopefully you have a bill of sale with a vin number and a sales price. Question is, did the provence in Canada title these vehicles?? If not a bill of sale should be enough. If so, see if the original owner has the original bill of sale or other docs.

Using a title service may cause more problems with the Washing State Police. It may raise their suspicions about the truck.

Good luck.
