Rear axle rating is also higher because the combined tire ratings on the DRW truck is about 160% of the SRW rating.

The last time I looked at the 3500 SRW, the rear axle rating was right at the limit of the tires. The DRW was approx 3000# greater and still had a factor of safety with regards to the tire ratings. I guess a guy could buy a SRW 3500 and upgrade to 19.5 tires because as Jerry said, there isn't any difference in the axle itself.
