Will,

We have had 6 Dodge CTD trucks that we use for towing. Both 2500 and 3500 models.

We do regularly tow two trucks on a 36' flatbed, gooseneck trailer rated for 24k. We have loaded the trailer to 26k at times hauling around the farm. We also tow multiple smaller trailers at all weights from 3k to 14k.

The biggest difference is rear axle capacity between a dually and single rear wheel truck. Even on a DRW v SRW there is about 3000k difference (I checked Dodge website, but couldn't find the detail). This leads to much greater stability with heavy trailers. And, maintaining appropriate tongue weight will help the trailer pull easier.

With a large trailer hauling multiple trucks, you will quickly exceed the rear axle capacity of any SRW truck. Personally, I wish that you could get the rear axle load capacity on a SRW truck equal to a DRW truck, because frankly I prefer the looks of the SRW. But, when it comes to towing heavy loads, it is all about margin of safety. At CGVR of 27+ cruising at 65 mph, I have never wanted for a 2500.

Best Regards,
Dan
