Very well put Tim. Having been involved with the Iowa rally this year and hosting my own rally this past May there are costs involved and there is a lot of work that goes into planning a rally. As a host you want to insure that everyone has a good time with activites and enough food for everyone. I had a preregistration for my rally to get a more accurate head count and with the exception of one person everyone showed up. Things do come up at the last minute as was the case for the person who couldn't attend. But to say you'll be there and not inform the host in advance can cause problems. It it very rewarding to host a rally and I plan to hold another one next year with the help of my friends and family. The key in hosting is planning and having help. If anyone is thinking of hosting a rally you'll be surprized at how far people will come to attend your rally. Even with my small first time event I had people drive over 4 hours to attend. Our trucks bring us together as a common bond but it's the friendships that make a rally great.
