That said, IMHO, the oil pressure gauge works by grounding the 24 volts at the sender. Merely adding 24 volts to the gauge does nothing as there is no circuit for the needle to work. If you have someone local, maybe you could borrow their gauge and see it is works (test sender).

Also, the M-series used 2 types og oil pressure gauge SETS!!!! (0-60 and 1-120psi) The sender and gauge must be calibrated to work together or the readings will be off. Finally, the original gauges are notorious for being broken/inaccurate. Plumbing in an aftermarket tube style unit might be a good idea.
