Good suggestion. Maybe my chemist friend will explain that. My understanding with the biodiesel is that the main reason to use the methanol to break up the tri-glycerides is to make the fuel stay liquid at low temperatures so that it will perform almost exactly like regular diesel in any diesel engine. If you're only running at warm temperatures, unmodified vegetable oil will work fine, although its higher viscosity will confuse the density compensator on a multifuel engine. I've put the occasional gallon of rancid cooking oil in my multifuels, but only diluted into a tank full of regular diesel.
