My 1960, W300 Fire Truck came with Power Steering. I can see it was a add on.

It uses a Saginaw Clock Wise Rotation PS Box, mounted on the frame. The Casting number in the Saginaw Power Steering Box is 7802644. I have no idea what application this box was used on. Hopefully, a good parts store can cross that casting number to a good part number for you. At this point, I also do not know what pitman arm was used....maybe the stock arm ? Nor do I know what drag link was used in my application. You can measure the distance from the Pitman Arm to the steering arm on the knuckle and find a drag link to fit. Mine is adjustable like a tie rod end.

Basically, its a Plug N' Play install. The Saginaw Box is frame mounted on the outside of the frame, much like a M37 Steering box is outside mounted. You will need to fab Power Steering Pump mounts for your particular engine. Run the feed and return lines from the pump to the Saginaw Box. Connect your steering column to the Saginaw box and Wala..........Power Steering .

Go to www.sweetmfg.biz for a large selection of steering column U Joints.

I am please with the way the Fire Dept added the Power Steering and dont plan any changes as I build my Power Giant.

IMPORTANT !!! do not be confused, when adding PS on a FFPW, you use a Reverse Rotation Saginaw Power Steering Box. In this application as mine is hooked up the Saginaw Power Steering Box is (NOT) reverse rotation but rather Clockwise rotation. You can easily determine rotation. Turn the Saginaw PS Box INPUT shaft
clock wise. If the out put shaft also turns clockwise its standard Clockwise rotation. If the Output shaft turns Counter clockwise when the input shaft is turned clockwise, its reverse rotation.

I will be in the shop all afternoon. I will see if I can find any numbers on the pitman arm and drag link. I will post a Yea/Nay reply late this afternoon. Your welcome to call me if you want to discuss 518-532-9502
