Yes, I tried that very procedure.
The result of course is that when I tried to install XP that it did not see the partition (E:) that I created using Vista shrink.
That and it incorrectly saw the hard drive as being partitioned into (C:) 132MB and 132MB of unallocated space, even though the drive is 300MB.
