Norm, I've been told by a client of mine who is an automotive engineer developing compressors for the fuel cell industry that the new 'Hemi' is in fact not a true Hemi, but more of a Polysphere or Canted valve head. The axis of the valve stems must meet at the center line of the piston travel, creating the hugh Hemi head. I've heard this from other sources as well. What do you know about that? Looking at a cross section of my Toyota 3.0, 4 valve V6, it looks like a Poly too. Perhaps a lot of dual overhead cam engines are polys. I saw a 30's era Talbot Lago at the Bugatti (yes) shop in Berthoud, with the head off and it was a hemi! Straight 6 with DOC.
Don't get me wrong I'm a big Poly/Hemi fan, but I think they are using the Hemi name as a marketing tool.
