But you wouldn't be scared to have a first term senator who has spent more time campaigning than he has in the Senate chambers, or that he has ties to an unreformed terrorist whose organization bombed the U.S. Capitol?

What bizarro universe have we found ourselves in when a candidate such as B.Obama can be taken seriously?

Do I expect a canidate to be a foreign policy expert? No, this is why presidents have foreign policy advisors. Bill Clinton certainly didn't obtain foreign policy experience as the governor of a small southern state. Nixon was the most astute president when it came to foreign policy, and yet he didn't realize until too late that our involvement in S.E. Asia would not come to a satisfactory conclusion.

What about this statement from Harry Truman -

"If we see that Germany is winning we ought to help Russia and if Russia is winning we ought to help Germany, and that way let them kill as many as possible, although I don't want to see Hitler victorious under any circumstances. Neither of them thinks anything of their pledged word."

That statement if uttered in today's political environment whould get him branded as a foreign policy neophyte and pilloried in the press, yet Truman is now widely regarded as being one of the best presidents of the modern era.
