Ugg, it was alot of fun to work on the old fighters. They used to have a squadron from the Confederate Air Force based here in Fort Worth and they were in a hanger next to where I worked. I spent weekends and evenings with those guys and got to do some cool things with all the different WW2 aircraft that showed up. Owner of one of the Mustangs taught me how to start the thing and do engine run-ups. Surprisingly, engine sounds like a Brigg&Stratton with no muffler when it is idling--crack the throttle and DAMN-- what a sound !!
