Sometime in 1971 or 1972 Dodge changed the W500 name to the W600, though from what I hear everything else stayed the same. Then the body changed in 1974, and from 1974-1977 or so the new body was used. At some point some or all of the new bodied W600s got what looks like a Dana 70 front axle instead of the rockwell. I do not know what that did to the weight rating.

I know VPW had at least one of the dana 70 equiped W600s, maybe they have more info.

So in answer to your question, I think that 1971 was the last year for the W500, but the W600 looked the same, and had the same axle until 1973, and then things started changing.

If you include the 1956 C3-HWs, the same basic truck (rockwells, etc) was made from 1956 to 1973 at least, and the last truck badged as a W600 was made in 1977 if memory serves.
