Tim, I have spent the last week replacing my center cross member (in front of rear axle) and I wouldn't do it again because of not being able to put back original. I am using button head allen bolts (grade # 12) to put back in for replacement of factory rivets. After install I am welding the allen hole up & grinding like rivet" I was going to go through Fastenal and get the rivets but u just cant quiet get in there to put them back like factory. All I can suggest is do the best u can on the sandblast and put somekind of rust preventer in the places u cant get to as suggested by others. Good luck !!
