I have rewired 2 trucks. My carryall and a Willys. I used a Painless fuse block on both. I get the one that is not prewired. I like fuses for the simple reason as Paul stated once blown it will not reset until I want it to.

I long ago ran out of slots on the fuse box for the carryall. I am now putting a couple of smaller fuse boxes for added accessories. One will stay hot all the time and the other will be activated with the ignition switch. All are protected between the battery and the fuse box. When I did the Willys I found the main wire coming in from the battery to the amp gage to be spliced and the insulation was burned and bare wile was 1/4" from the hole in the firewall it went through. Glad I caught it and it is the reason why I protect between the battery and the fuse box.

Do not use crimp butt joints and etc on your wiring. Always use solder on all joints and never splice wires if a wire is too short. I never use tape. I use shrink tubing al all connections. I also use it to hold wire bundles together. Everthing is ziptied to stop any rubbing. Crimping can be a source of resistance especially on higher amp circuits (I have seen the insulation burned away from crimp butt joints).
