I am not really wanting tear down the whole engine as it ran just fine before the valves started giving me problems. Plus I just don't have the funds to fund another project, and I like to drive it a lot any ways. I do regular oil changes on it every year before our tour season and before winter sets in and we use Delo 400 or the Rotella what ever the mechanics have on hand at work.

Should we just pull the pan and clean out the nasty stuff there and run it,or should we flush her out? Cylinder wall look excellent no gouges scrape or pits. I think that the valve guides might be worn as it smokes a little at idle. There is a little bit of carbon build up that we are addressing and replacing the thermostat as well.

Our truck has maybe 60-70 thousand miles on it Was a county truck for Hood river county and then retired to a 2 acre piece of property in the Columbia River gorge for about 30 years.

Thanks,
Chris and Carston Becker
