Did you ever see the roo bar that the Aussies use. Everyone who goes int the out back has roo bars. There are so many of them everyone has roo bars. Cars, truck buses etc. The idea is obviously to deflect the kangaroos on impact. The roo bars are possibly the source idea of many of the big "light" bars you see on trucks over here.

The best system is to drive slower as others have said. I also put on driving lights. I use clear fog lights as they put out a wider beam and they light up the shoulder of the road. It gives me a better chance to see them and react. If a deer is coming your way, brakes, horn (many toots not one) and flashing your high to low beams or turning on and off your head light. Deer seem to be fixated by your lights if they are left on. If you flash them it often breaks their fixation and theu will head for the woods.
