To add to Ned's expertise, I know a guy with a house at Lake Tahoe. As part of the fire prevention measures being enforced after the latest big fire there he is ordered to remove 10 big pines from his property at a quoted cost of $800 each. I believe that includes cleanup but no stump removal.
Just another cost reference point.
