It has nothing to do with the brand of vehicle and the steering stabilizer is only a band aid.
It's caused by worn or lose front end parts, of any of the following: tie rod ends, wheel bearings, bent wheels, loose wheel lug nuts, improper front end alignment, bad shocks, out of balance tires, (bigger than stock tires magnify all of these conditions), steering components.
Finding it can be simple to darn near impossible, but there will be a reason. Have your vehicle checked out, it sometimes takes two set of eyes to spot the offending part. I've even had a bad, brand new stabilizer, contribute to the shimmy, when all else has been checked but larger tires have been installed. Stabilizers can eliminate the shimmy, but they do not fix the underlying cause.
