Heat riser ??

Did the flat fenders heat riser change from 1946 to 1968. I have only ever saw the one you have to move by yourself. Did they ever use the spring type? Just wondering. When ever I service and old car or truck I always like to check to see if the heat riser still works and spray a little Mopar heat riser solvent on it to keep them free. Maitance isthe key for worry free driving. Bill.
