Flat head Fords were famous for vapour lock, I carried a jug of water to pour on the fuel pump to get going. Believe it or not spring loaded wooden clothes pins snapped on the fuel lines helped (I suppose it changed air current or dissipated heat). Maybe marking the pully & setting the timing at high RPM max advance would help if you havent checked the advance curve. GB
