The carryall came with a 230 6cyl if it is a WC 53. I have a Chey small block in my carryall. It came that way and it was nicely done.

I have seen chey inline sixes but you have to cut the frame if I am right to get in in. There is the GMC v 6 out of the 60's. I saw one of those recently. It fit well. NOt sure on power and etc.

My Chev V8 (327) has plenty of power but MPG is not so good.

The real problem is the length of many engines. The 4BT is a good choice it fits very well. Believe it or not it the 4BT and Chev small block are exactly the same legth within a 1/4".

There are conversion kits for the Mopar V8 but anything else you are on your own.

If you put in a larger engine, put in disk brakes. The original brakes are not sufficient for the speeds that that truck will do with a V8. THe original brakes will make I stop from 60 if you try again they fade really badly.
