You are right, to a point. But, re-read my thread.
Originally I blasted the POR that the previous owner had placed on the rusty metal frame. When the sand hit it, it came off in sheets in places, and in other places it adhered better. There was a great disparity in adhesion.
That is the concern I have with POR.
Epoxy primer bonds with the metal chemically and does not depend strictly on a mechanical bond, and so you should not have it peel off like I saw.
Is possible peeling a problem for a POR coated frame? It could be, if moisture got behind an area that did not adhere well, then you would not even know if there was rust until there was significant damage.
Now, I do think there is a place for paints like POR. I used a somewhat similar paint called Zero Rust (that the autobodystore.com people recommended over POR), on the inside bottoms of my doors where I could not blast. I also plan to use it on the insides of the cross members.
But, when I can access the metal with a blaster, I agree with others that there is no substitute for properly cleaning (blasting) and painting steel with epoxy primer and then a hardened topcoat.
