Arrived in Jamestown on saturday afternoon for a move up and cover assignment. We were supposed to just cover stations in Tuolomne-Calavaras Unit, but were diverted to two working fires wioth no one assigned to them. The north part of the state had a serious dry lightning bust and well over 5500 down strikes happened between Madera county and the Oregon line.
We intial attacked three fires and stopped them, now we were told to be ready to drive to Mendocino County tomorrow. They have 24 fires that have no one assigned to them as they are already working 15 other fires!
I guess the good thing is I'm making money to put into the PW!! Yeah...explain that to the wife, being gone for what looks like two to three weeks and spending all the money on a truck!
Sorry to bore all with theses assignments, but the wife is tired of hearing about it.
