It's too bad you cut them off because it is hard to find screws with that small of head diameter to replace them. Since we can't turn the clock back I would suggest getting what is left of the screws cherry red with a very low setting on a torch with a brazing tip. Let if cool then the temper should be out of the screws and your drilling will go much easier. Next time search the archives and follow Paul's suggestion with heat/wax. I've torn apart at least a dozen frames and have yet to have one of those little screws defeat me yet
