To answer your first question, it's normal Brian... the front driveshaft in your 48pw will still turn in 2wd. The stock setup in our older Power Wagons is a hub system that is always locked/engaged. From this, what you are seeing is the rotation of the tires/front axle (while rolling on a surface) turning the driveshaft, rather than the transfer case turning the driveshaft and front diff, axle etc. Make sense?

Selective locking/unlocking hubs allow the the front drive to be disengaged.
